Lightbreakers

It’s uncommon to find an art form that can be represented just as beautifully when translated into a different artistic expression, the way it’s rare to have someone love the movie just as much as they loved the book. When it was open, Malja Bahrain buzzed with the excitement and energy of the Bahraini B-Boys who came to express themselves the only way they know how; dancing. Watching them move, each with a distinct breaking style, I wondered if it was possible to capture their dancing performances with a still image, as contradictory as that sounded at face-value. “Lightbreakers" is a photography exhibit that creates collaboration between moving bodies and still images, illustrating what breakdancing looks like, and showcasing the Bahraini B-Boy styles.
