Garden of Eden

Ali Haji and Maryam Jamal collaborate to create a series that pushes against anti-feminist themes established in one of the oldest and most retold tales of our time. This series, heavily inspired aesthetically by the work of Markus Åkesson, reimagines the scriptural account of Eve, and her seduction by the Snake into committing what many cultures consider to be the Original Sin. "Garden of Eden" puts Eve's emotional turmoil on display as she experiences Curiosity, Fear, Shame, Dismay, and then finally a Surrender to the temptation of the apple. 

"Link" explores Eve's mental state after having been shunned from the garden. The visual duality represents the co-existence of two states for Eve; her status as a human being alongside her divinity as someone who's experienced paradise. She dons extravagant jewelry to reflect this dichotomy, boasting about her class as the Human Mother while masking the shame of divine banishment.

يتعاون علي حاجي مع مريم جمال لإنتاج مجموعة فنية تعارض المواضيع التي تم تأسيسها في قصة من أقدم الحكايات وأكثرها رواية في عصرنا. هذه الأشغال الفنية، المستوحاة من أعمال ماركوس أكيسون، تتخيل الرواية الكتابية لحواء وإغرائها من الأفعى لارتكاب ما تعتبره العديد من الثقافات الخطيئة الأصلية. يتخيل عمل "جنات عدن" الاضطرابات العاطفية التي تتعرض لها حواء وهي تتعرض للفضول والخوف والعار والشجاعة ثم الاستسلام أخيرًا لإغراء التفاحة.

تستكشف أعمال "صلة" حالة حواء النفسية بعد أن تم نفيها من الحديقة. تمثل الازدواجية البصرية التعايش بين حالتين لحواء: مكانتها كإنسان عادي إلى جانب ألوهيتها كشخص نزل من الجنة. تستخدم المجوهرات الفخمة لتعكس هذا التناقض، فتتفاخر بفصلها كأم الإنسانية بينما تخفي عار النفي الإلهي.
